Welcome to Wood's Weir Creek Beagle Kennel
The rabbit trap plans below are all effective when used and placed in an efficient manner. The cheese wheel rabbit trap design works great in warmer weather. The 2 box designs work well during cooler temperatures. Apples, pears, and bananas are preferred baits. The box designs do not require bait after the box has been seasoned with a rabbit.
The cheese wheel rabbit trap is easy to make and set. It relies on 3 pvc guides and a simple notched trigger design.
4 pieces of 22" CPVC 1/2" and 4 caps. I use CPCV because the caps are flat. (3) 3" screws and 3 small 3/4" screws. Stiff wire that is 8" tall and small staples for attaching wire. A 25" plywood circle and a 23" plywood circle.
Place the 23" plywood circle over the 25" circle and clamp together. Use a marker and find 3 equally spaced points about 1 1/2" from the edge on the 23" plywood top. After marking these points use a very small drill bit and drill through both pieces. Label each hole on 23" and 25" pieces so that the holes will align back up when assembling. Remove clamps and drill 1" holes on the 3 points on the 23" top. Also, drill a 1" hole in the center of the 23" top. Use staples and attach wire.
Using a small bit drill a hole in the center of all 4 CPVC caps. Place 3 caps over the small holes made in the previous step on the 25" base. Use the 3/4" screws and attach caps to the 25" base. Glue in 3 guide rods.
Notch the trigger at 18" as shown in the picture. This notch catches the lip on the center hole in the 23" top. Run a 3" screw through the remaining cap. Glue cap on to the trigger. Drill 2 holes completely through the trigger at an upwards angle right above the cap. Run the 2 remaining 3" screws through these holes.
